Overview of Ben Thanh Ho Tram project

The project to renovate the domestic wastewater treatment system at Ben Thanh Tourist Area - Ho Tram, implemented by NTS Engineering Co., Ltd, aims to improve the overall treatment efficiency and ensure that the effluent meets QCVN 14:2008/BTNMT, k=1,0, Column A standards. The system has a capacity of 470 m³/day.night, applying AO technology combined with MBBR. The renovation process is carried out according to plan, ensuring that the renovation process does not interrupt the treatment stages in each tank and brings overall efficiency.

Challenge

The renovation process has some challenges as follows:

  • With a location near the beach, the project requires strict treatment standards, the effluent must ensure water quality according to column A ,QCVN 14:2008/BTNMT, k=1.
  • The renovation process is carried out concurrently with the collection and treatment of wastewater continuously generated from the tourist area’s operations, ensuring no impact on or disruption to other activities within the project.
  • Ensure strict compliance with labor safety regulations and construction standards to help prevent labor risks and avoid negative impacts on investors.
  • Ensure that the treated wastewater during the renovation process still meets output standards. It is necessary to absolutely control to avoid discharging substandard wastewater into the environment.
  • The construction environment in a closed space has many potential toxic gases and occupational safety risks. Therefore, it is necessary to proactively take measures to protect construction worker.

Solution

NTS implements the renovation plan as follows:

  • Develop a plan to isolate each treatment tank for renovation to avoid interruption of treatment processes.
  • Apply construction methods to suit and not affect the surrounding space and customer experience.
  • Comply with the principle of "No illegal discharge", temporarily store wastewater in the equalization tank, and complete the construction within the day to ensure that treated effluent meets requirements.
  • When working in a closed tank, ít is necessary to set up a ventilation fan and assign at least two employees to ensure safety and promptly address any problems that may arise.
